Halloween 2010

The festivities started on Friday morning when Mads and I met up with lots of little friends in costume in downtown Willow Glen for trick-or-treating at the stores. It was a little chaos mixed with a ton of fun!

I sort of assumed that the costumes might cause Maddie to act even more shy than she already does around strangers, but the very opposite happened. She'd see a boy in an Iron Man/Batman/Spiderman (did I mention her comic book character obsession) and she would walk up to him and say hi, get giggly, and smile a broad smile before slapping him a high five. It gave me an insta-glance into years from now when she starts having her first crushes.

On Friday night, we went to the pumpkin patch to find a pumpkin to carve.

It was a little chilly. Mads wanted her "soft hat."

[Just for fun... Here's Maddie playing at the pumpkin patch this year and last year. What a difference a year can make!]

We spent Saturday doing all things pumpkin. First Mads helped me (in her awesome Kitchen Helper Tower) make pumpkin bread. Yes, it came from a box... But it was yummy and we had a blast!

This is the face I get whenever I ask her to "say cheese!" Lovely. ;)

Brunch was pumpkin pancakes and then it was time to carve our family pumpkin. Maddie was NOT excited about her hands getting all messy. She WAS excited about the kitty being carved on the pumpkin, though.

Finally, we spent tonight trick-or-treating with my Dad (my Mom was sick :( ), J's Mom, and Zak/Sarah/Aaron in my parents' neighborhood. We toted around diaper bags, plastic pumpkins full of candy, kids' jackets, and of course a portable AM radio to listen to Game 4 of the San Francisco Giants in the World Series! Go Giants!!
